I would like to become a trainer for children who are diagnosed with autism.

Dream

I would love to be a professional trainer for children with special needs, children who are mentally retarded. In particular, I would love to be a trainer for those who have autism. I do not know why exactly this type of disability interest me, but perhaps it is because it presents a communication challenge and I would love to be able to deal with such children and I feel that perhaps I can for I get along with young children well.

Perhaps also another reason why the case of autism in particular interests me is that such people with autistic tendencies tend to have extraordinary talents or mental abilities such as memorizing massive amounts of data and information, solving complex mathematical problems on the fly without using a calculator nor pen and paper, playing the piano in a superior way or any other extraordinary talent or disability.

I believe that each one of us has potential. If someone has a deficiency in some area, then sure he or she has higher than average abilities in other areas. That is what I deeply believe in and would like to continually prove. Perhaps being a trainer for such children with autism would give me the chance to do just that.

Communication

Another reason why I might be interested in autistic children is that their case presents and calls for new forms of communication. Language is something I am highly interested in with all its variations and peculiarities. Verbal language is something that interests me deeply. Written language, which is essentially a written form of the verbal language, is something that I like as well. Yet not only is my interest in verbal languages, my interest goes way beyond that. That is why I have been attending training in sign language. Communicating using sign language provides me with more insight into the nature of language and communication and their possibilities. That is why I would love to always broaden my investigation into wider forms of communication through various forms of language. Perhaps one day I would be interested in studying communication with animals which is still confined to science fiction today.
