I would love to compile a huge record of the diverse biological manifestations of life and put together a huge encyclopedia containing photos and descriptions of such biological widely diverse manifestations of life on Earth.

Idea

It would be a fascinating work for me to work on creating an encyclopedia of life from a biologic perspective.

Fundamentals

The encyclopedia would include a brief introduction about the basic concepts in biology such as cells and their structure and would also touch upon the fundamental concepts of genetics.

Photos

The encyclopedia would be jam packed with a huge amount of photos ad illustrations showing a large number of living creatures and also diagrams showing the internal workings of living organisms (such as illustrations of the organs and of the biological cell and its components).

Multimedia

I would love to photograph many of those living creatures myself. Perhaps going on trips to various protectorates, forests, zoos and other places all over the world would be the way to go in order to take those photos and grab the essence of such fascinating variety. I may also take an MP3 recorder with me to such locations in order to grasp the spirit of the place not only in still images but also in sound. I would love to record the sounds from each animal on its own as well as record sounds in forests that may be a combination of different animals together at the same time. Such sounds can be offered in CD/DVD form with the printed encyclopedia. They may also be put on the web site of the encyclopedia which would include both photos and sound clips of a huge number of living organisms. Besides the photos and sound clips of various living organisms, I may also shoot short (and long) video clips of animals and forests. The encyclopedia is to include living organisms from the animal kingdom only and not from the plant kingdom.

Theory

The theory of evolution by Darwin and other theories explaining biodiversity would also be presented near the beginning of the encyclopedia right after the basic introductions on biological cells and genetics.

Gear

I should use professional equipment in order to be able to grasp the photos, sound clips and video clips in high quality. My equipment would include: a professional high-end digital camera with high optical zoom, long and short focal length, various lenses and a lot of features and manual settings; a very good and sensitive MP3 recorder and a high end camcorder, a digital video camera. All such three pieces of equipment should have high storage capacity. The digital camera should also have a high mega pixel resolution besides an excellent lens. In addition to those three recording equipments, I would also use a laptop in order to be able to download to it the media I have recorded easily.

Fascinating

The encyclopedia should be fascinating to read through and learn from. The illustrated pages in it should be interesting and captivating to go through. Besides giving fundamental biological facts, the encyclopedia would also work as a journey to go through and a place for discovering fascinating information. The encyclopedia’s strength would mainly be its ability to simplify scientific information and present it in a clear, fascinating and interesting yet simple way all at the same time.
